Botanics: Drawing
DESCRIPTION
Botanics: Drawing is one of a series of innovative art education apps – a first of its kind digital resource that brings together quality content, interactivity, and virtual teaching artists into the classroom.
Botanics: Drawing is the first in the series five apps designed to be used with the free Botanics: Introduction app to provide an educationally sound program for teaching or learning about visual art.
Drawing is a brilliant starting point as it is a fundamental skill for all visual arts learning. Other apps in the series cover painting, mixed media, printmaking and sculpture.
The Botanics: Drawing app contains a five stage learning sequence:
Learning about artist and their works
Learning about the elements and principals of art
Learning and practicing skills and techniques
Creating artworks
Reflecting on and presenting works
Experienced teaching artists have brought tried and tested methods, activities and ideas to the development of the Botanics apps so that anyone can have the resources to learn about and teach visual art to a range of age groups from pre-school to lower high school.
Designed for use with iPads, and in the classroom with smart boards and data projectors, the Botanics apps have been trialed with students from 5 – 18 in Australia and Asia with glowing recommendations from teachers and students.
REVIEWS
“Children from two organisations and in quite a wide age range spent two very happy hours with Fullerton and Free and their Botanics app. They learnt how to hold a pencil like an artist, they drew from observation and from their imaginations. Timed drawing exercises and drawing without looking at their papers caused great excitement. And they were all thrilled with their final batik paintings.” Art Reach India
